Little Free Libraries Coming to Bartow County Fire Stations
The Bartow Literacy Council has partnered with the Bartow County Fire Department to place Little Free Libraries at five Fire Stations throughout the County. The library units will be placed at the Wilderness Camp, Taylorsville, Pine Log, Folsom and Sugar Valley Fire Stations beginning the week of November 1st.
The Bartow Literacy Council began its Little Free Library initiative in 2018 with a goal of creating a network of book exchange units throughout the County. The book boxes are stocked with a variety of books for all ages and residents are encouraged to take a book, read it and return it. The Council will monitor the boxes to ensure they remain well stocked. Residents can also donate books to the Little Libraries for others to enjoy.
After learning of the initiative, Bartow County Fire Chief Dwayne Jamison expressed an interest in placing the Little Library units at some of the more remote fire stations in the County.
The Little Free Library program is a national organization that started in Wisconsin ten years ago. Little Free Libraries can now be found all over the world. The Bartow Literacy Council has now placed 33 Little Free Library units in Bartow County.
Thank you Bartow Literacy Council and its volunteers for providing this valuable resource to the citizens of Bartow County!
