Bartow County Water Department New Service Applications must be processed by either contacting Customer Service @ (770) 387-5170, emailing requests to or our Request Services Online Portal. A Customer Service Representative will be readily available to provide Customers with detailed information regarding our Water and/or Sewer Systems including Utility Service Availability; New Service Connection Fees; Water Meter/Sewer Tap Installation Procedures and established Billing Policies. Note: New Water and/or Sewer Service Applicants must acquire a Water and/or Sewer Service Availability Notification Statement from the Bartow County Water Department prior to obtaining a Building Permit from the Bartow County Zoning Department for establishments that shall be serviced by the Bartow County Water & Sewer System! These Service Availability Statements are valid for a term of 180 days. New Service Applicants must provide our Customer Service Department with proper identification and documentation including a valid Driver’s License; Social Security Card; and proof of property ownership, purchase or a Rental/Lease Agreement prior to processing Water and/or Sewer Utility User Agreements. New Service Activation for previously installed water meters and sewer taps requires a minimum of three (3) working days while new water meter and sewer tap installations requires an average of seven (7) to ten (10) working days. New Service Applicants will be notified of their expected Utility Service Activation Date during initial registration procedures. Note: Water Service Customers are responsible for purchasing, installing and maintaining the waterline connecting their water meter to their serviced establishment including the installation of a cut-off valve and pressure reducing valve that shall be installed on the customer’s side of the water meter. Sewer Service Customers are responsible for purchasing, installing and maintaining the sewer line connecting their sewer tap to their serviced establishment. All water meters and sewer taps are required to be installed within the County or State Right-of-Way. The Bartow County Water Department now provides Customers requesting multiple water meters and/or sewer service taps (3 or more) the option of placing Advance E-Mail Service Orders @ To successfully process these Service Orders, Customers must provide our department with the physical address (or Subdivision/Development name and lot number), contact person, mailing address, Utility Service(s) requested and daytime phone number for each potential Service Location. Note: Our department requests that Customers submitting Advance e-Mail Water Meters and/or Sewer Service Orders please type "Advance Utility Service Request" in the subject section of their email transmissions. Once Utility Service Availability has been successfully determined, Service Orders shall be prepared by a Customer Service Representative and an appointment will be scheduled with the appropriate contact person for the purposes of acquiring proper identification, obtaining required signatures, collecting associated Service Fees and issuing approved Service Contracts. Note: All Service Orders shall be processed during regular business hours; Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Closed for Lunch 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you have any questions or require additional information regarding New Service requirements and procedures, please contact our main administrative office @ (770) 387-5170. 

 Water System Requirements
water pressure reducing valve smallBartow County Water System Customers are required to install a water shut-off (safety) valve on the serviceable side of their water meter and a pressure regulating valve (PRV) upon their internal water system to protect the structural integrity of their plumbing components from rapid pressure changes that periodically occur within our Water Utility System. These devices should be periodically evaluated and maintained by a Professionally Licensed Plumber to ensure their operation performance. Customers that operate in-ground/automated sprinkler systems are also required to install a testable back flow prevention (BFP) device that shall be tested on an annual basis as required by the Environmental Protection Division (EPD). These sprinkler systems must have a rain sensor shut-off switch installed to prevent their operation during a rain event or within six (6) hours after an adequate rain event (rainfall of at least 1/2"). Installation of these devices are mandated to protect the operational integrity, health and safety of the Bartow County Water System and its Customers and to ensure the highest possible quality of Water System resources and Water Utility System Services.

Sign-Up Fees
 - Sign-Up Fees are $25.00 (non-refundable service charge) per each Water and/or Sewer Utility Service Application.

Installation Costs - The Installation Costs is $700.00 for 5/8” x 3/4” Water Meters, $820.00 for 1” Water Meters, $1,150.00 for 1 1/2" Meters and $2,100.00 for 2" Meters. For all Water Meters > 2" please refer to Meter\Material Costs of the applicable Water Meter.

Meter/Material Costs - The Meter/Material Costs is $1,760.00 for 3” Water Meters, $2,185.00 for 4" Water Meters, $9,600.00 for 6" Meters and $12,500.00 for 8" Meters.

 Service Transfers

MovingTransferBartow County Water Department Customers are charged $15.00 to perform a Transfer-of-Service within our Water & Sewer Utility System. Our department will continue providing active Water and/or Sewer Utility Service(s) to the Disconnecting Service Location for a period of up to seven (7) days following the initial Transfer-of-Service Notification Date. Once Service Termination has occurred at the Disconnecting Service Location, our Customer Service/Utility Billing Department shall reallocate the Initial Deposit from the Disconnected Service Account to the Connecting Service Account and will promptly mail a “Balance Sheet” of the Disconnected Service Account to the applicable Customer. Note: This statement does not appear in the form of a Utility Service Bill, but complete payment must be received from the Customer by the designated Due Date to avoid Non-Payment Disconnection Procedures at the Connecting Service Location!

 Service Disconnections
waterservicedisconnectionBartow County Water Department Customers must provide our Customer Service Department with proper identification including a valid Driver’s License and/or Social Security Card in addition to a definitive Service Termination Date upon submitting a Disconnection-of-Service Order. Customers that apply for Disconnection-of-Service are billed for Water and/or Sewer Service(s) from their last Meter Reading Date through their Service Termination Date. Disconnection-of-Service Requests can either be mailed to:  Bartow County Water Department, P.O. Box 850, Cartersville, GA  30120-0850, faxed to (770) 387-5173 or emailed to Note:  Our department requests that Customers submitting Disconnection-of-Service Requests electronically please type "Disconnection-of-Service" in the subject section of their email transmissions. Once Service Disconnection Procedures have occurred, our Customer Service/Utility Billing Department promptly credits the Initial Deposit to this Service Account and mails to the applicable Customer a Termination Service Utility Bill. If a credit balance of $5.00 or greater results from applying the Initial Deposit to a previously Serviced Account the Customer can immediately request a Refund Check from the Bartow County Water Department that shall be mailed within two (2) weeks from the Customer's Refund Notification Date.
