Area cleanups are held annually in April (Keep Georgia Beautiful Month) throughout Bartow County to celebrate the Great American Cleanup campaign.

The Great American Cleanup is a nationwide effort to clean up communities across the country. All over America, the over 500 Keep America Beautiful affiliates join with their national and state programs to clean up, recycle, plant trees and flowers, remove graffiti, and beautify beaches, parks, playgrounds and neighborhoods. It is the nation’s largest community improvement program. In 2009, more than 3 million volunteers in 32,000 communities took part in the Great American Cleanup, collecting 64 million pounds of litter and debris, much of which was recycled. National and State Sponsors support the work of volunteers in our area cleanups, and local sponsors donate time, money, and materials to the cause, helping with refreshments, door prizes, and t-shirts.
