Transit Development Plan Suggests Next Steps
The County hired the consulting firms AECOM and ARCADIS to conduct the study. These firms reviewed existing population and current transit system ridership data, examined future development patterns, and interviewed community stakeholders to determine what options exist for the future of public transportation within the community. Options presented in the study include fixed bus routes, commuter park and ride locations, and connections to the Cobb County and Georgia Regional Transit Association (GRTA) bus services.
AECOM presented the study to the Technical Coordinating Committee on Wednesday, April 26th and to the MPO Policy Committee on Wednesday, May 3rd. A copy of the PowerPoint presentation which summarizes the study can be seen here.
The TDP Study is presented in two parts:
Bartow TDP Data Analysis - This report examines types and levels of service, community demographics, land use patterns, and potential barriers to the provision of additional transit within the community.
Bartow TDP New Services Memo - The report presents fixed route and commuter route options for the community. A technical analysis of the proposed system examines potential ridership, costs for startup and implementation, and potential funding sources. The Appendices provide information on the amount of public involvement during the study, service statistics and comparative analyses, and potential route schedules.
