OBTAINING
A MANUFACTURED HOUSE (M.H.) PERMIT |

|
TO OBTAIN A MANUFACTURED HOUSE (M.H.) PERMIT
I. If not placing in a mobile home park, verify that the zoning of the
property allows manufactured houses (M.H.). (Zoning Department
770-387-5007)
II. Verify that the M.H. will comply with the Zoning Ordinance
and is not over 20 years old. (Although not enforceable by the
County, always check the property deed for restricted covenants.)
III. The following must be presented for the m.h. permit:
A. An approved Erosion and Sediment
Control permit obtained from the Bartow County Engineering
Department 770-387-5067.
B. A copy of the septic tank permit issued by the
Environment Health Department, (770-387-2614) or a copy of the
sewer tap. (If an existing septic tank is to be used,
provide documentation from the Environmental Health Dept.
verifying the existence of a functional septic tank.)
C. A copy of the water user agreement (water tap from the
public water provider, unless the dwelling will be served by a
well. (Bartow County Water Dept - 770-387-5170)
D. A plat of the property, if not a m.h. park.E.
A document indicating the year, make, model, serial number and
size of the M.H.; such as a bill of sale, title, etc.
F. Permit fee - $125.00 (The electrical and
plumbing permits will be issued at the same time the m.h. permit
is issued.) |
AFTER OBTAINING THE PERMIT
I. The following must be completed before requesting the
inspection (this includes the electrical, plumbing, and/or gas
inspection).
A. Register m.h. at the Bartow County Tax
Commissioner's Office and return the
proof of registration to the Building Inspection Department.
B. The m.h. set-up, tie downs, wiring, plumbing, and underpinning should
be completed. (Ask about procedure if served by Cartersville Gas
Department.)
C. The electrical and plumbing permits must be filled in and signed by
the respective installer and returned to the inspection department. (The
permits can not be picked up by the inspector at the m.h.)
D. Verification with the Health Department that the septic tank
installation is approved.
E. Application for service with the appropriate utility company should
be made (ie – Georgia Power, Cartersville Gas, Cobb EMC, etc.) |
After all the above items have been completed, then an inspection can be
requested. Inspection called for before 9:00 am can be made on the same
day.
Make certain the M.H. permit card is posted in a conspicuous location,
visible from the public road.
After the installation passes the inspection, then the power company
and, when applicable, the Cartersville Gas Department will be notified of
the approval.
